Introduction

Hong Kong Small and Medium Enterprises General Association (the Association) was established in June, 1995 as a non-profit organization.  The Association, as a member of China International Co-operation Association of SMEs, is the hub for business and social networking.  SMEs, as an integral part of the Hong Kong economy, account for 98% of total business establishments to the tune of 300,000 entities.  They play an important role in shaping the future development of the Hong Kong economy and the Association spares no efforts in developing the bilateral economic relationships across the border by creating business opportunities for SMEs.

In this connection, the Association annually organizes and co-sponsors many events.  The Association maintains strong ties with global organizations for SMEs, particularly, the counterpart in Mainland China as a means to facilitate the exchange and cooperation of technology between SMEs in China and Hong Kong.

The Association co-opts socialites in Hong Kong as honorary presidents and advisors of the Association.  In the meantime, the Association also co-opts the counterpart from Mainland China to serve the honorary posts so that the Association assures  SMEs from Hong Kong that they can be better served in terms of policy implementation, coordination between different departments, bank financing and guarantee, training and recruitment for human resources, etc.

(1)     In the case of policy implementation, the Association keeps rapport with government agencies and relevant organization office-bearers via our representative offices; the Association has access to investment opportunities and concessionary measures so that SMEs can enjoy efficient services in terms of vetting procedure and human relations;

(2)     The Association has joined forces with local banks and loan guarantee companies in Mainland China to provide SMEs with relief package for financial difficulties.

(3)     The Association in conjunction with manpower training institutes in Mainland China addresses the labor problem faced by HK-invested companies by means of recruitment and training services thereafter.

The Association promotes strong guanxi between members and business partners as well as among members to share resources, exploit markets and create more business opportunities for synergetic results.  As a practitioner of CSR, the Association champions social enterprises and environmentally-friendly industrial/commercial parks. The Association works along with many professional-service providers to assist Chinese SMEs in realizing "going international" by setting up branches, making investment offers and going public in Hong Kong.  They will be matched with suitable business partners for due diligence and post-IPO operation services at preferential rates.
