Mr. Albert Lau, Vice-chairman, of HKSMEGA was invited to attend a welcome luncheon at Bauhinia Room, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre,hosted by Hong Kong Trade Development Council to honour the visit paid by Mr. Ivan Gasparovic, President of the Slovak Republic.

Mr. CHAN Shan Ho, Chairman and Mr. Albert Lau & Michael Mak Vice-chairmen, of HKSMEGA were invited to attend the inaugural ceremony of Shenzhen Xuzhou Chamber of Commerce at Sheraton Hotel, Shenzhen.  The ceremony, which included entertainment and a banquet, was graced by the presence of Xuzhou leadership.

Mr. CHAN Shan Ho, Chairman and Mr. Albert Lau, Vice-chairman, of HKSMEGA were invited to attend 2010 Spring Reception hosted by People's Government of Guangdong Province at Grand Hall, HKECC, Wanchai, Hong Kong. Mr HUANG Hua Hua, Governor of Guangdong Province, delivered a speech and emphasized on the increasing co-operations between Hong Kong and Guangdong. Accompanied by chief officials, Mr. Donald TSANG, Chief Executive of HKSAR Government made a welcoming speech with festival greetings.  Concurrently, a photo exhibition for HK-Guangdong joint ventures was showcased on the sidelines of the gala event, which was attended by 2600 socialites from political and business circles. Entertainment with songs and dances consummated the gala event.

 Mr. Kyran SZE, Hon President of HKSMEGA, attended a breakfast briefing on The Power of Procurement in Driving Sustainability, hosted by Business Environment Council. As one of the keynote speakers, Mr. SZE, Managing Director of Aedas Ltd., shared his experience and the business opportunities of SMEs in the capacity of a celebrated architect. His presentation was overwhelmingly touché and  intriguing.(Photo)                                                   

28 February, 2009

 HKSMEGA hosted a spring reception cum partnership signing ceremony at People¡¦s Building, Futian, Shenzhen on 28 February, 2009. Guests of honour in attendance included Mr. GAO Guo Hui, Deputy Secretary General of Shenzhen Municipal People¡¦s Government and Mr. RONG Fu Hua, Deputy Director, Kowloon Sub-Office, Liaison Office of the Central  People¡¦s Government in HKSAR. The partnership signing ceremony was conducted between Mr. CHAN Shan Ho, Chairman of HKSMEGA and Mr. J.J. NA, Managing Director, Uni-World Services Co., Ltd. as an alliance to boost HK-Shenzhen economic and trade activities.  In the meantime,   Mr NA was appointed Chief Representative in South Korea and Mr. XUE Wen Xiang, a celebrated international consultant in Shanghai, Honourable President of HKSMEGA. Their certificates of appointment were presented by Mr. RONG. The reception was graced by social elites across the border in addition to office-bearers of HKSMEGA. Mr. Scott Chan, Vice-president, gratefully sponsored red and white wines. The banquet ended in cheers and good wishes.  .(Photo)

2008

10 - 12 December, 2008

The World SME Expo 2008 was held at HKCEC for three days from 10 December,2008. HKSMEGA was one of the supporting organizations with its booth at 1C30.  HKSMEGA took advantage of this occasion for networking and distributing over 1,000 copies of our Special-edition Yearbook to celebrate The Olympics 2008 and our13th Anniversary. The Expo was  a great success on the strength of 31,100 visitors of which 1,110 overseas visitors came from 56 countries and regions. More than 2,400 participants were Chinese business and government entities from 21 provinces and 52 cities.  The Expo, which was divided into two business zones, namely, Solutions Hall and Opportunities Hall with 10 theme pavilions, attracted 287 exhibitors from Hong Kong, China and other 43 countries.  The World SME Expo 2009 is to be hosted from 2 to 4 December 2009.

31October - 2 November, 2008

The China Food Fair 2008 (Fair) was successfully hosted at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Centre from 31 October to 2 November, 2008.  HKSMEGA was one of the organizers.  The Fair attracted 120,013 professional buyers and visitors from China and abroad, of whom 5,616 were overseas buyers along with 6 study missions from professional and trade associations as well. They were representative of 300-plus corporations hailing from the US, Italy, France, Japan and Greater China in total of 13 countries and regions.  That the gross exhibition area of the Fair exceeds 25,000 m² testifies to the fact that the Fair is the largest of professional events for food in South China. About 73 media organizations covered the Fair from all perspectives. Concurrently, China Food fair Summit 2008 was launched as the biggest and latest forum in Shenzhen for food professionals. Corporate leaders and delegates of trade associations who came from the US, Japan, Italy and Greater China took part in the forum.  Topics included food technology, food safety, environmental issues and certification for imports and exports.  Professional exhibitors comprised from food importers/exporters, dealers, wholesalers and retailers, supermarkets and outlets to hoteliers, caterers as well as merchandisers for food and beverage.  The Fair fetched a turnover about RMB¢D2.6 billion, which would trigger the sales growth of food enterprises on the rim of South China.

21-23 April, 2008

 Mr. Andy HUNG, Hon President; Mr. LOU Liu Shu, Hon President; Mr. CHAN Shan Ho,   Chairman; Mr. Albert LAU, Vice-chairman and Ms Amy Xiao, Chief Representative in Guangzhou of the Association were invited to attend the opening ceremony of The Anji International Bamboo Product Trade Expo 2008. Other Guests of Honour included Mr. WANG Wenyuan, Vice-chairman of The 9th Chinese People¡¦s Political Consultative Conference; Mr. Bao Yujun, President of China Private Economic Research Institute and Mr. Eugene Liang, President of Canton Fair Co., Ltd. During the opening ceremony, Mr. Andy HUNG, Hon President and Ms WANG Shu, Deputy Party Secretary of Anji County jointly unveiled the plaque to mark the establishment of the organizing committee for an international industrial park on behalf of Anji and HKSMEGA. After the opening ceremony, guests were escorted and shown around China International bamboo Art Trade Centre.(Photo)

2007

12-14 December, 2007

The Association was one of the supporting organizations for World SME Expo 2007. The expo was a gala event hosted by Hong Kong Trade Development Council.  The Association's booth at A42 was called upon by many visitors from abroad for enquiries and networking.  Statistics show that 36% of 327 exhibitors are from Hong Kong; 36%, China and 28%, overseas. The expo attracted 26,100 visitors with the following breakdown: 80% from Hong Kong; 15% from China and 5% from overseas.

9-11 November, 2007

The Association was one of the sponsors of 2007China International Foodstuffs Trade Fair held at Huangpu Town, Zhongshan, Guangdong, China from 9-11 November, 2007.  The opening ceremony was officiated at 10:00 am on 9 November and attended by the representatives of the Association, including Mr. CHAN Shan Ho, Chairman; Mr. Albert LAU, Vice-chairman: Mr. Andrew Mak, Vice-president; Ms Amy XIAO, Secretary; Mr. CHENG Yao, Representative in Guangzhou and Mr. ZHOU Wei, Legal Advisor. The representatives also joined the luncheon reception hosted by the Municipal Government of Zhongshan.

23 August, 2007

The Association represented by Mr. CHAN Shan Ho, Chairman of the Association, played a visit to China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (CASME) in Beijing. He was received in audience by Mr. LI Zi Bin, currently Chairman of CASME and formerly Vice-chairman of National Development and Reform Commission.  They discussed on issues relevant to SMEs and opportunities of cooperation.  Mr. CHAN also gave him a briefing and  update on the development highlights of the Association  (Photo)

25 July, 2007

The SMe-strategy Forum organized by SME WORLD and supported by the Association was held at HKCEC in Wanchai.  The forum was kicked off by a welcoming address delivered by Mr. Andrew Mak, CPA and Vice-president of the Association.  The forum agenda comprised a keynote speech and workshops on diversified topics.  Mr. Patrick Fung, Vice-president of the Association, shared his success experience with the audience in an afternoon session. 

7 July, 2007

The Association hosted a ceremony to celebrate the Tenth Anniversary of Hong Kong Handover to China along with inauguration of  office-bearers for a new term at Gou Hui Hotel, People's Building, Shenzhen.  The Guests of Honour to officiate at the ceremony included Mr. ZHOU Jun Ming, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong and Mr. GAO Guo Hui, Deputy Secretary-General of People's Government of Shenzhen (cum Permanent Honorary President of the Association).  After Mr. Peter CHAI, President, had delivered a welcoming speech, the Guests of Honour presented Certificates of Appointment to the office-bearers, including Honorary Presidents, Vice Presidents and Legal Advisor, etc.   The gala event was graced by the attendance of the Association's friendly counterparts, including the New Territories General Chamber of Commerce and Shun De Association in Shenzhen.(Photo)

Mr. Peter CHAI, President and Mr. CHAN Shan Ho, Chairman, were invited by the Government of HKSAR to attend the flag-hoisting ceremony to mark the Tenth Anniversary of Hong Kong Handover to China.  They also attended the swearing-in ceremony of Mr Donald Tsang, Chief Executive, and his new cabinet under the witness of Mr. HU Jintao, President of PRC.

28 March, 2007

A seminar organized by Economic Digest was held at Golden Mile Holiday Inn in Tsimshatsui. The seminar on the success factors of managing retail business was overwhelmingly attended by large audience.  As a guest speaker, Mr. Albert LAU, Vice-chairman of HKSMEGA, made the opening speech on the new marketing strategy for small- and medium-sized retailers.

Hong Kong Commercial Daily along  with 28 SME and trade associations jointly organized a seminar at the office of Hong Kong Federation of Guangdong Associations, known as: The Ten Issues of Most Concern on SMEs in Hong Kong.  A consensus was reached and recommendations are to be put forward in a forum in May.  Government officials and academics will be invited to attend this event as a token of supporting SMEs in Hong Kong.

The Association played host to Mr. XU Guo An, Party Secretary and his associates of Long Men County at Regency Club, HITEC, Kowloon Bay. They discussed the issues of setting up industrial parks therein for SMEs from Greater China and aboard.  (Photo)

Mr. CHAN Shan Ho, Chairman of HKSMEGA, was invited by Tokyo Metropolitan Small Business Centre to visit its office in Tokyo . Accompanied by Mr. Masahiro ITO, Representative of HKTDC in Tokyo, Mr. CHAN discussed with the centre's officials on exploring the business opportunities by SMEs in Greater China. Prime Awards for the Best Brand Enterprises in Greater China 2007 was organized by PRIME Magazine and the award presentation was held in Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel at 2:00pm.  There were fifteen categories for the awards, such as "Best Brand in Luxury Cars in Greater China," "Best Brand in Airline Services in Greater China," and "Best Brand in Caterers in Greater China," etc. Most of the awardees were world-class players in the industry and deserved the awards.  Mr. Paul YIN, BBS, Chairman of Hong Kong Brand Development Council, officiated at the opening ceremony.  Mr. Albert LAU, Vice-chairman of HKSMEGA, was invited to attend the gala event as one of the presenting guests. (Photo)
