The International (Yongan) Bambooware Fair 2017 was hosted in Yongan, Fujian along with other sideline exhibitions and forums on 25 October, 2017.  The office-bearers of HKSMEGA and Yongan Chamber of Commerce, Guangdong (YACCG) were invited to attend the fair with the following delegates: Mr. Albert LAU, President; Mr. JIANG Nan Chun, Vice-president;    Mr. CHAN Shan Ho, Chairman; Mr. CHEN Yao, Vice-chairman and Mr. TANG, Cong Cong, Secretary (from HKSMEGA); Ms ZHAO, Li, President; Ms LIN Lin, Committee Member;   Mr. ZHANG, Jia Nian, Committee Member and Ms DENG, Ying Lin, Secretary (from YACCG).  Some representatives from the business and media sectors in Shenzhen also joined the event.  Apart from taking part in the fair, the delegates did sight-seeing in some tourist attractions and paid visits to certain business entities, such as Fujian-Taiwanese Creative Park, a bamboo furniture factory and Yongan Haode Commercial City (Complex).  The delegates also took the opportunity to have networking meeetings with municipal government officials, including Vice-mayor, Education Bureau Chief and Vice-president of Industry/Commerce Alliance. The delegates were impressed by the imposing cityscape and unsophisticated folkways of Yongan, which is endowed with abundance of natural resources and business opportunities.   (Photo)

 Velotrade, an online factoring company, hosted a networking party at Royal Yacht Club in Causeway.  Guests included Mr Albert Lau, President of HKSMEGA, Mr. Luca Cico, President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in HK and Macao, Mr. Charles D'Haussy, Head of Fintech Section of InvestHK and other socialites.  Mr Lau, among others, gave a speech on the financing difficulties for SMEs.(Photo)

Led by Mr. WONG, Cheung Lee, Permanent Hon. President of HKSMEGA and Chairman of Hong Kong Howard Group Ltd., the delegation paid a visit to Guangdong Zen Culture Research Centre in Guangzhou under the stewardship of Mr. FENG, Sheng Ping, Centre-in-charge. The delegation comprised eight delegates with the following among others: Mr. CHAN, Shan Ho, Chairman of HKSMEGA;     Ms WONG, Li Hua, spouse of Cambodian ex-Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. LUO, Tao, Vice-president of Hong Kong Howard Group Ltd.  The purpose of the visit was to explore the feasibility of developing Zen cultural activities and making investments in Zen creative projects in Guangdong.  The following personnel were also present during the visit: Mr. YANG Yuan Xing, formerly Deputy Centre-in-charge of Guangdong Ethnic and Religious Affairs Council; Ms XING Hui, Deputy Centre-in-charge and Mr. MO Jian Guo, Assistant Centre-in-charge of Guangdong Zen Culture Research Centre.

 Mr. CHAN said that HKSMEGA would continually serve as a catalyst for liaison, promotion and publicity to promulgate Zen culture so that Zen culture could make contributions.  The Zen creative projects give rise to ample business opportunities and HK/overseas enterprises are lined up with these relevant investments in these projects in Guangdong.  Mr. CHAN proposed that HKSMEGA, Hong Kong Howard  Group and Guangdong Zen Culture Research Centre jointly float a fund for developing Zen charity work and supporting the Zen creative projects along with businessmen in Hong Kong and China.(Photo)

The 12th China (Yunfu) International Stone Materials Sci and Tech Fair was hosted in Yunfu International Stone Materials Park.  The number of participant enterprises amounted to 392 from 14 countries and regions, including the US, India, New Zealand, the UK, Italy, Taiwan, etc.  Concurrently, the China (Yunfu) Stone Culture Festival was held along with the Fair to showcase jade sculptures and stone curios for appreciation of the traditional Chinese handicraft.  The Festival, featuring displays and trading, attracted 130 companies from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong SAR and abroad. The Fair and Festival were a big success in terms of investment amount totaling RMBD85.60 billion.  In particular, Hong Kong Small and Medium Enterprises General Association enhanced the extent of its internationalization by lining up 100 booths to take part in the Fair and Festival.  The Association was given credit in her opening-ceremony speech delivered by Ms Pang Guo Mei, the Party Secretary of the City of Yunfu.

HKSMEGA and China-Hong Kong Economic and Trade Relationship Association jointly organized a seminar on investments for Lakeside New District, the City of Suqian, Jiangsu Province. The seminar was held at Metropark Hotel, Kowloon.  With an area of 448 square kilometres and a population of 180,000, Lakeside New District focuses on tourism, headquarters economy, educational training and new materials technology. Mr William YU, President of HKSMEGA and Mr. WANG, Jin Pu, Party Secretary of Lakeside New District Working Committee, delivered speeches and strongly recommended  Lakeside New District for investments.

HKSMEGA hosted a banquet at Golden Palace Seaview  Banquet Hall in Tsimshatsui to present certificates of appointment to  Mr. Andrew MAK, Dr.WONG Tak Cheung and Mr. George H. KAI as Permanent Presidents and Ms May CHENG and Ms Danyang WANG as Vice-presidents.  The occasion also celebrated the award of Medal of Honour to Chairman CHAN Shan Ho on 1 July, 2013.
