2 December, 2006 Mr. CHAN Shan Ho, Chairman, was invited to attend the welcome dinner held by Government of HKSAR in HKCEC in honour of Mr. WU Bangguo, Standing Committee Chairman of National People's Congress. About 450 senior government officials and socialites were invited to grace this gala event. 29 November -1 December, 2006 The Association participated in World SME Expo 2006, which was organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). According to the official statistics, there were 31,651 visitors, including 1,892 overseas visitors from 67 countries and 4,250 SMEs from Mainland China. As a supporting organization, the Association was provided gratis with a booth to promote its cause. . Apart from SME organizations from China, the Association also established networking with counterparts from other countries, such as Chile, India, Sweden and Japan. In particular, four representatives from Tokyo Metropolitan Small Business Centre along with Marketing Manager of HKTDC paid a visit to the booth of the Association. Mr. Albert LAU, Vice-chairman, greeted them heartily and elucidated to them the objectives and services of the Association. Mr. LAU extended invitations to the members of the Centre to join the exhibitions and investment road-shows to be hosted by the Association in China. The representatives were keenly interested in the cause of the Association, which was presented a gift as a souvenir. 12 October, 2006 Mr. Andy HUNG, President, led the delegation to the opening ceremony of 2006 China International Foodstuffs Trade Fair in Huangpu, Zhongshan. As one of the sponsors, HKSMEGA organized a full-scale delegation to attend the event, which comprised chairman, vice-chairmen, secretary and some committee members. In addition, 6 Chinese community leaders from the Philippines also joined the delegation to grace the event. Mr. Jacques Santer, formerly Prime Minister of Luxemburg and President of European Commission, officiated at the opening ceremony. After the opening ceremony, the delegation visited the exhibition centre and the booth occupied by HKSMEGA. The delegation also attended the welcoming lunch at Hui Dong Hotel in the afternoon. (Details and Photos) 1 October, 2006 Mr. Andy HUNG, President, and Mr. CHAN Shan Ho, Chairman, were invited by the Government of HKSAR to attend the flag-raising ceremony and reception to celebrate the National Day of PRC. Mr. Albert LAU, and Mr. Joe SIU, Vice-chairmen, were also invited to attend the reception. 28 September, 2006 Mr. Albert LAU, Vice-chairman, delivered a keynote speech at a seminar on IT enhancement, which was organized by Hong Kong Productivity Council and sponsored by Microsoft, Hong Kong. HKSMEGA is one of the supporting organizations. 7 September, 2006 Hong Kong Trade Development Council invited representatives from various SME associations to attend its guided tour to its scope of services and Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair 2006. <Photo> 12 August, 2006 Hong Kong Trade Development Council invited Mr. CHAN Shan Ho, Chairman and Mr. Albert LAU, Vice-chairman to join a yacht cruise aboard its yacht HK Traders. They were accompanied by Mr. LAI Ching Hung, Head of Customer Service, Mr. Paul FAN, Customer Relations Manager and customers from SMEs. The yacht set sail from Marina Cove, Sai Kung in the morning and then the guests went trekking along High Island Reservoir for taking lunch in a seafood resort on High Island. In the afternoon, the guests headed for Kai Sai Chau and practiced putting as well as driving in the golf course on the island. The guests enjoyed themselves very much when the cruise came to its end at 5:00 pm. < Photos> 20 July, 2006 Mr. Kyran SZE, Hon. President of HKSMEGA, was invited as a guest speaker to attend the videotaping of Fortune, a talk show on current affairs on English Channel of Guangzhou TV Station. The topic was on the urban planning in Guangzhou and the Pearl River Delta. Another guest speaker was Mr. TANG, Li Ming, a professor of Architecture Department, Hua Nan Polytechnic University. Mr SZE is a celebrated architect in Hong Kong and also Class 1 Registered Architect in China. He shed light on urban planning in terms of its importance, the idiosyncrasies of Pearl River Delta and experience in Hong Kong. The show is to be telecast on English Channel of Guangzhou TV Station at 7:10 pm on 6 August, 2006. < Photos> 7 July, 2006 Mr. CHAN Shan Ho, Chairman led a delegation to visit the Peoples?? Government Huangpu Town, Zhongshan for laying down the groundwork to 2006 China International Foodstuffs Trade Fair to be held in Huangpu from 12 to 14 October 2006. HKSMEGA is one of the organizers of the trade fair and committed to promoting this gala event. <Details and Photos> 1 July, 2006 Mr. Andy HUNG, President, and Mr. CHAN Shan Ho, Chairman, were invited by the Government of HKSAR to attend the flag-raising ceremony and reception to mark the ninth anniversary of Hong Kong??s handover to China. 27-29 June, 2006 Mr. JIA Qinglin, Chairman of Chinese Peoples?? Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) made a three-day visit to Hong Kong. Mr. CHAN Shan Ho, Chairman, was invited by the Government of HKSAR to attend the welcoming reception at Shangri-La Hotel, Hong Kong Island, hosted by Chief Executive. He also took part in Mainland, HK and Macao Trade and Economic Co-operation Forum the next day and the lunch hosted by Mr. WONG Wing Ping, Secretary of Commerce, Industry and Technology Bureau 25 April, 2006 Mr. Albert LAU, Vice-chairman of HKSMEGA, was invited to attend the recording of a TV talk show Fortune on English Channel of Guangzhou TV Station. Mr. LAU along with Prof. Andrea TRACOGNA, an Italian academic, discussed the issues on SMEs in China, Hong Kong and Italy. The English Channel, launched on 28 March 2006, is the first regional all- English channel in China to target 300,000-plus expatriates living in Guangzhou and over 1 million students currently learning English therein. The talk show will be telecast on English Channel of Guangzhou TV Station at 7:00pm on 21 May (Sunday). <Photos> 2 March, 2006 The 2005 Eco-Business Awards was organized by Environmental Campaign Committee with HKSMEGA as one of the co-organizers.
